Trade-Ins
Commonly Referred to as Advance Exchanges Tape & Optical Disk Drives
HOW DOES THE EZ SYSTEMS TRADE IN PROGRAM WORK?
A trade-in is a drive we buy from you as part of a sales
transaction or a repair order. We basically give you 20% of our
selling price of a good drive for your bad one that we will get
and then keep. We issue a purchase order for the "buy
back" of your unwanted drive. This purchase order is your
return authorization number.
EXAMPLE #1 WE SELL YOU A DRIVE AND BUY BACK OR LET YOU TRADE
IN YOUR UNWANTED DRIVE
*This is commonly referred to as an advance exchange transaction.
Please see our below clarification on how we do advance exchanges
under the paragraph labeled ADVANCE EXCHANGES.
For this example, let's say you want to buy a DLT2000 tape
drive but you want us to take in trade your old unwanted DLT2000.
What we would do is sell you a DLT2000 for $1,100 and issue you a
purchase order to buy your unwanted DLT2000 from you for $220.
You would ship the DLT into us against the assigned purchase
order. Your invoice from us would state that part of this
transaction is that we will buy your unwanted DLT for $220
against purchase number xxxx. We would ship you the DLT2000
before we got your unwanted drive.
EXAMPLE 2 WE HAVE YOUR DRIVE IN UNDER REPAIR BUT WE CAN NOT FIX
IT FOR SOME REASON AND SO YOU DECIDE TO TRADE IN THE UNREPAIRABLE
DRIVE FOR A GOOD ONE
If we use the DLT2000 again, we would take $220 straight off
the invoice since we already have the drive and sell the
replacement drive to you for $1,100 minus $220 for a total of $
880.
EXAMPLE 3 YOU SEND THE DRIVE TO US FIRST AND THEN WE SEND YOU
A REPLACEMENT
Let's use the DLT2000 as an example one last time. First, we
would issue you a purchase order number to buy your unwanted
drive from you at the predetermined amount $220 (20% of the
drives selling price) and then once we got the unwanted drive we
would invoice you for $1,100. The net result of these two
transactions would be $880.
*ADVANCE EXCHANGES
It is a common practice for a drive to be shipped out in
advance of getting the unwanted drive in from the customer. And
we do this too! But one part of this transaction that we avoid is
when the unwanted drives value is subtracted (credited) from the
invoice at the time of shipment. What is essentially tough about
doing advance exchanges in this way is that sometimes the
unwanted drive does not come back in but the credit was given. So
the way we do advance exchanges is to sell the drive at full
price and agree with a purchase order to buy back the unwanted
drive. The net result is the same and we get the unwanted drive
more often.
If you have an advance exchange order, just let us know that
you want us to buy back your unwanted drive. You can specify this
information in the special instructions section at the bottom of
our purchase products via our secure server form (see
below links).
If you have a drive for us to buy first, like in example #3
above, please request a purchase order from us and specify this
in the special instructions section at the bottom of our purchase
products via our secure server form (see below links).
